Notable Changes for MTSEF in 2021

MTSEF

Updated: Feb 1, 2021

As we look forward to our 2021 Science Fair season, please note the following changes for this year:

  • Judging will be virtually conducted using Zoom

  • Students are not required to create a posterboard

  • Students are asked to create a slide presentation with a program such as Google Slides, PowerPoint or Keynote, using the provided sample template

  • Students will have 8 minutes to present their project and 2 minutes for questions from judges

  • Please do NOT exceed 16 slides. (the title slide does not count toward this total)

  • When presenting, students can either share their screen so that their slides are visible OR set their virtual background as their slide presentation

  • When presenting data, charts or graphs, students should ensure that information is clearly visible

  • Students need not include a bibliography as a separate slide (since it will be included with registration paperwork)

  • There are no limitations on middle school number of projects this year

Note to all participants under 13 years old:

  • All participants under 13 should have a parent/guardian/teacher present with them during the judging period (approx. 1:30-5:30 pm on April 10th)
